4 ways to support local businesses during the coronavirus pandemic.

While local businesses are beginning to slowly and safely reopen, they are still going to need a lot of TLC from their customers and communities to help them recover in the months ahead. If you’re financially able, here are four ways to bolster your favorite local businesses:

  1. Ramp up your shopping. Purchase a few items from the businesses in your neighborhood that have re-opened for curbside pick-up or delivery. With graduations and Father’s Day just around the corner, the timing couldn’t be better for buying everything from flowers to cards to golf balls to jewelry from your local shops.

  2. Keep eating well. You’ve probably already been ordering a lot of takeout and delivery from your local restaurants – keep it going! And, if it’s financially feasible for you, support restaurant employees by tipping well (even for takeout).

  3. Get creative with gift cards. Think out of the box when it comes to the kinds of gift cards you purchase. Besides buying gift cards for restaurants, breweries, and coffee shops, you can also buy them for attractions, theaters, and museums. Or, pre-purchase services like a massage, a pedicure, or a session with a portrait photographer.

  4. Take a virtual class. Support a local fitness instructor (and get your body moving!) by taking a virtual ballet, yoga, or other workout class. Bonus: some instructors are donating part or all of the small fee you may pay for the class to nonprofit organizations helping people in need.

Every little bit helps!

We'll get through this together.
