Board of Directors

The Board of Directors oversees management activities and is ultimately responsible for the affairs of the bank. Their duty to oversee the conduct of the institution's business requires that they exercise independent judgment in evaluating management's actions and competence.

 

Bruce Shay, Chair

Bruce is executive vice president at Securian Financial Group in St Paul. He has been with Securian for more than 30 years and is accountable for all aspects of the Group Insurance and Retirement Plans businesses at Securian. He is also responsible for Retail Product Distribution. Bruce has served on several professional boards and industry organizations and currently serves as a board member for Children's Hospitals & Clinics of MN. He has been a Think director since 2011.

     
 

Jodi Millerbernd, Vice Chair

Jodi is the executive director of Boys & Girls Club of Rochester where she is responsible for developing and executing strategies to achieve the Club's mission - empowering young people to reach their full potential. She has worked for clubs across Minnesota for 18 years serving in a variety of capacities, including operations, management and executive leadership. She is a member of the Community Gang Initiative Governing Body and the Journey to Growth Board of Directors. She has been a Think director since 2014.

     
 

Walt Ling, Secretary

Walt is the recently retired senior state executive for IBM in Minnesota and the Rochester site. He is a board trustee of the University of Minnesota Foundation and the Rochester Area Foundation. He is the board chair of the United Way of Olmsted County, and a member of the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation's Leadership Circle. Walt is co-chair of the Rochester Journey to Growth Economic Journey Committee, and a member of the University of Minnesota Rochester Chancellor's Advisory and Advocacy Committee. Walt has been a Think director since 2012.

     
 

Bruce Remme, Director

Bruce is executive director of Ability Building Center in Rochester, an organization that provides rehabilitation and employment services for persons with disabilities and other special needs. Prior to assuming this role, he was with IBM for 35 years. Bruce has been a Think director since 2008, serving in several positions including chair and vice chair. He is currently chair of the Audit Committee.

     
 

Kevin DeVore, Director

Kevin is an attorney at Larson King, LLP in St. Paul where he specializes in criminal defense and investigations. Kevin has practiced law in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area for 21 years. He has been a Think director since 1999, serving in several positions including chair, vice chair, secretary, Executive Committee chair and Compensation Committee chair.

     
 

Barbara Baasch Thomas, Director

Barbara is the education administrator for the Mayo Clinic School of Continuous Professional Development and Mayo Clinic Online Learning. She has worked in a number of roles within the Clinic for 30 years. Barbara has been a member of the Think Board of Directors since 2005 and has served as board chair and chair of the Nominating Committee.

     
 

John Wade, Director

John is general manager and partner of Clements Chevrolet Cadillac Subaru in Rochester. He is actively involved in the community, serving as chair of the Rochester Area Journey to Growth Board of Directors and as a member of the boards of RAEDI (Rochester Area Economic Development) and GRAUC (Greater Rochester Advocates for Universities and Colleges). He has been a Think director since 2014 and is currently chair of the Governance Committee.

     
 

Paul Dorn, Director

Paul is a consultant with Advantus Capital Management, Inc. in St. Paul. He has served as a Think director since 2006 and was chair of the Minnesota Mutual Companies Credit Union board for over 10 years prior to their merger with Think. He has served as vice chair of Think's board and as chair of the Audit Committee.

     
 

Paul Mackin, Director

Paul is president and CEO of Think Mutual Bank, a position he has held since 2008. His professional career includes 34 years in financial services in a number of managerial and executive capacities. Before joining Think in 2002, Paul spent 19 years in commercial banking. He currently serves as a member of the ICBA's Federal Delegate Board and as chair of its Consumer Financial Services committee, is a member of the ABA's Mutual Institutions Council, the Ronald McDonald House Board of Trustees and the Center City Housing's Board of Directors. Paul has served on the bank's Board of Directors since 2012.
